Steve: “Featured in Q Magazine, it's a set of pictures that's grown in stature over the years. The kebab shop shot in particular, has become pretty well known with fans of The Streets. Mike Skinner himself, has grown into an important and influential musical icon, since that young 23 yr old maverick artist exploaded into the charts. An artist still going strong today, nearly a quarter of a century later. Included here is one of the contact sheets from the kebab shop 'Q Magazine feature'. I had the frame in the centre of this roll comped together with another of Mike playing the role of the owner behind the counter, serving himself. That composite image is also available on my site as either a 12"x16" or 16"x20" giclee print.
The album 'Original Pirate Material' had just been released. I had it playing on repeat and loved it. It reminded me of one of my favourite bands growing up The Specials, social commentary with killer hooks. I'm still listening to it now, and it still sounds as innovative, FAF, relevant and poignant, as it did all those years ago.” I’m pretty sure Mike enjoyed the evening’s work, along with the kebab, B&H and the Kronenbourg 1664s, back at the studio."
